ALL
PRODUCT PRICES start with the BASIC product ;
ROUGH MILLED GREEN LUMBER
or BEAMS. This applies to both Reclaimed or Old
Growth
NEXT: Prices are listed for KILN DRIED Lumber or Beams. KILN DRY ROUGH Milled products as required for the intended final use. This applies to both Reclaimed or Old Growth. The above is how the BASE price of lumber is computed. WITH REGARD TO LUMBER: VERTICAL GRAIN and/or RIFT SAWN is more expensive than FLAT Sawn. There are TWO CONSIDERATIONS:
LONG LEAF
PINE is Graded by Color and How Sawn, flat or vertical grain. Depending upon how specific the Selection Process is, the Buyer may be charged an hourly rate to sort the product. This rate is $65.00 per hour. This charge can only be estimated. Experience dictates this is NOT a particular concern. Samples and/or Mock Ups should eliminate any potential problems. Note: Long Leaf Pine will quickly darken naturally. If a Blending Stain is used, it should be VERY light. CYPRESS is selected by subspecies. Other than for Flooring use the grain orientation is generally not considered. There are NO additional charges associated with Grade. EASTERN RED
CEDAR. Other than for Flooring, the grain orientation is generally
not considered.
Grade costs are as published; Clear or Small Knots. There are NO additional charges associated with Grade. WHITE CEDAR. (Priced same as Red Cedar) Grade costs are as published; Clear or Medium size Knots. There are NO additional charges associated with Grade. POPULAR. We only sell VARIEGATED Green Popular Kiln Dried at $1.75 per board foot, Rough Kiln Dried. DOUGLAS FIR. As Lumber we only sell Finished Decking for ceilings and wall covering as a # 2 Common. As this is a Commodity type product, price varies daily. It should not exceed $2.50 per board foot. MESQUITE. See Mesquite Lumber and Flooring Price List. NET YIELD CONSIDERATIONS: ROUGH LUMBER
is cut oversize to accommodate shrinkage according to Species. It is warranted
to Meet Net sizes for milled lumber according to the Softwood Association,
NHLA and Federal guidelines.
Example: a 6" by 1" board will yield 5.75"wide by .75" thick. MILLED LUMBER. This is lumber that is sent through a Molder or Planed S4S.NET Surface Area is 12.5 percent less than the Rough Lumber purchased. Example: a 6"by 1"board will yield a flooring board that is .75"thick by 5.25"wide. In other words a floor that must cover 1,000 square feet will use 1,125 board feet of lumber. Note: To make is easier just tell us the NET SURFACE AREA desired. We will automatically quote the required gross product. PRICE CONSIDERATIONS : S4S
or MOLDING Charges (sf = surface foot, lf = linear foot)
NOTE : The Buyer as owner of the product can instruct us to proceed under any adverse conditions. However, the liability and associated costs rests solely with the Buyer. We sell lumber and beams. Any services we perform are at the complete discretion of the Buyer. We are in essence working for the Buyer and will do exactly as we are told to do EXAMPLE COMPUTATIONS( SUMMARIZE LUMBER PROCESSING CHARGES ) BOARD FEET REQUIRED:
Multiply NET AREA by 1.125 to arrive at total lumber Cost. Ex: Net area of 1,000 feet at $1.00 bf will require purchase of 1,125 feet at $1.00 bf. for Machined Lumber. This means your Actual Cost is $1.125 per surface foot, NOT $1.00 dollar. MACHINING COST: Non-Precision Molding cost per surface foot $.50 Precision Molding cost per surface foot $1.00 GRADE: Vertical Grain per board foot (not over 6"wide) $.40 Any special selection criteria is $ 65.00 per hour. KILN DRYING: Prices are listed for Kiln Dried products. See chart. That is all
there is to it. Take lumber price times 1.125, Add any Machining Costs,
Get estimate of any selection costs, then add up these number for your
square foot cost. Want the cost in Linear Feet? Divide 12" by Net bd. width, multiply this by the total sq.feet. Using above figures, a sq. ft. cost is $ 2.52. Using 3.25" wide boards would equal $ .68 cents per linear foot.
The
only possible additional costs are;
BEAM Prices are as listed The price includes 90 days of Air Drying under a sheltered enclosure. They are still considered by us to be Rough-Green. On Orders of 100 + beams we include Kiln Drying to 20% Moisture Content @ 1.5 depth, provided they have first been Air Dried. Kiln Drying is from Seven to Seventy Five days. NOTE: We strongly recommend following this procedure. We shall not Warrant beams that do not follow the above procedure. SAWING
FOR ROUGH, UNEVEN BEAMS (width & depth vary
by 1/2 inch) we use a Large Circle Mill. The Beams are always cut oversize.
The texture is also very rough, showing large serration's from the saw. Note: Beams of this type are most used for exterior exposure and are sealed and stained. From an Architectural point of view, they are like Old Mission Style Beams. PRECISION
BAND SAWN BEAMS (with & depth vary by maximum of 1/8"). The
texture is fairly smooth. The serration's are very light. They are Over
sawn to allow for Shrinkage.
PRICING See price schedule. You may see a price rebate, particularly on large beams. We are not just being nice guys. The price is based upon expected yields. Many times we simply do not lose too many and we rebate the cost difference. And, No, we can not estimate it! |
